Tiedemann Advisors Recruits Jill Shipley to Lead New Family Governance and Education Practice
NEW YORK, July 21, 2020 – Tiedemann Advisors, one of the largest independent U.S. investment and wealth advisors for ultra-high-net-worth families, trusts, foundations and endowments, announced today that Jill Shipley has joined the firm as Head of Family Governance and Education. In this position, Shipley will oversee a new division focused on helping families, family enterprises, family offices and foundations enhance communication, educate and prepare rising generations, strategically and proactively plan for transitions, and make effective shared decisions. She will strengthen the firm’s ability to achieve its mission of partnering with clients to ensure their wealth achieves what matters most to them.
“While all of our client families are unique, they typically have complex multigenerational family dynamics and share fears of mismanaging the transition of wealth to the next generations” said Michael Tiedemann, CEO of Tiedemann Advisors. “Jill’s dedication, commitment and passion for guiding families through transitions, creating educational opportunities and fostering effective communication enable us to continually add value to our clients which is always our goal.”
Shipley brings twenty years of experience helping UHNW families and family enterprises sustain wealth and family relationships across generations. Recently, Shipley was Senior Managing Director at Cresset Capital, leading the firm’s governance and education practice. She also served as Managing Director in the Institute for Family Culture at Abbot Downing, and as Director of Next Generation Education at GenSpring Family Offices.
“Managing and sustaining multigenerational wealth requires a focus beyond the dollars. It takes reflection on the meaning behind the money and intentionality in how wealth is put to work to support achieving the family’s, enterprise’s or foundation’s goals,” said Shipley. “Tiedemann has long been at the forefront of delivering exceptional service to clients by understanding firsthand the unique challenges and opportunities that wealthy families face. I’m honored to have the opportunity to work alongside a highly skilled team to carry on the firm’s values and principles.”
